Where's Sonic Orchid been hiding? |
|
Hello friends and fans. I sincerely apologize for not speaking to you for such a long time. I have no excuse. These past number of months have flown by so fast, I barely remember what went on last year. 2008 showed Sonic Orchid much promise in our musical direction and endeavors. We played a variety of shows and met many great new people: some in the music industry and a lot of new fans. Our CD, Love and War, has received mostly positive reviews, but also with some constructive criticisms. We thank all reviewers for taking the time to listen to our music and make their own judgements with what they hear. You cannot please everyone, unless you sell yourself out. We write music according to our thoughts and feelings at that time, and don't worry about what people are going to think. Some of it may be harder edged, some lighter, but in the end, it's us in a nutshell. We began writing new material again, but with a more distinctive focus. We like to venture into foreign territory sometimes, but will try to keep this to a minimum. I don't know how soon we'll record again, as finances hold us back in this regard, but it will happen next year. We're not looking for a record label or management, so it may take more time to complete a new CD. We may record another EP, or a full length; we haven't decided yet. We may even lay down some rougher tracks for the fun of it. We'll see. For now, we'll keep plugging away, gigging, having fun writing new material, and meeting great new people. It looks as if in summer 2010 we'll venture into Alberta/BC again for a few weeks. We miss being out on the road. Thanks again everyone for all your support, as the music can't keep going without YOU! Peace: Chris |

Featured in Fireworks Mag! Here's the scoop: |
|
Hello friends and fans! First off, I'd like to personally thank those of who who have joined our Street Team and Fan Club. With you being a part of our family, it really helps us to spread the word and let YOU know what's happening in Sonic Orchid land. We love ya! So, what's happening with us? Why aren't we touring yet? Well, this summer has been very busy for us personally, and we don't like to travel too far in Canada during the winter months. However, we are planning some touring and festival dates for 2009, both in Canada and the U.S. We're all getting the "get out there and play dammit" itch, so we need to scratch it and we will, oh, yes, we will. In terms of how "Love and War" is doing, well, I can humbly say it's doing quite well respectfully. We've been getting some really good reviews, critiques, and various tracks are getting some airplay all over the place, both internet, satellite (CBC Radio 3), and terrestrial. You won't hear us on Canadian terrestrial radio yet, as I haven't tapped into that market. But, soon enough, I'll get to that part; there's a ton of red tape to go through just to get a song on the radio these days. Now, if we had a friend in that department....... Anyway...I'm very happy to say that we're featured in Fireworks Magazine, Issue 33, Sept/Oct, in the Catz and Clawz section. This issue features Journey, Sebastian Bach, and Extreme amongst many other great bands. Fireworks is distributed globally, so you may be able to get a copy at Chapters. Also, our song, Last Time Alone, is a part of the compilation CD which is free with the magazine! Other opportunities are in the making, so I'll keep you posted. So, there you have the scoop for now. We've been working very hard to get our music heard, so any help YOU can give, please, yes, please!! Remember to go to itunes.com or CdBaby.com to get our CD, or single mp3 tracks if you like. And if I can ask a favor of you all, I believe both these sites have a section for CD reviews, so if you feel like commenting, (please, try to keep it mostly positive), by all means, go for it! Thanks again, we couldn't be Sonic Orchid "Without You"! Chris |

Hello everyone! I'm so pleased to say that our brand spankin new CD is finally in our hands! Yaya!!! We've posted a few of our new tunes onto the music page, so take a listen. The CD is now available on both iTunes and CdBaby, as well, you can get one directly through us; email us at
This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
and we can get one out to you ASAP! The CD is appropriately titled, "Love and War", which are the 2 main themes of the tunes. If you listen to the words carefully, I'm sure you can all relate to one or more of the lyrics. They're all about life and its circumstances. We'd like to thank Johnny and Grant at Touchwood Studios for making this project come to life, and thank YOU for the inspiration and motivation. We have our official CD release party coming up: it will be an all-ages show at The Exchange on Thursday, June 5 with Aces Loaded, ( an awesome young band from Lumsden High). Stu Block from Into Eternity will be a special guest singing with me on our song, "Alive Again", so don't miss it! Also, we've finally completed our website, where you can sign up for our annual newsletter, fan list, and/or street team. We've already had a number of fans sign up; thanks so much! We're just working out some particulars on the newsletter before we begin distributing it; but soon enough. If you have any cool pics of shows and fans, email us and we'll post them on the site. Thanks for keeping Sonic Orchid alive; hope to see you all at the shows! Chris |

Happy New Year- New Beginnings |
|
Hello fans and friends! Happy New Year! It's the start to a new beginning for us, with reconstructing this website and our new CD. We're still having some issues with this site, so please bear with us for now; it'll soon be resolved. On a happy note, our new full-length album is in it's final stages. We just need to get our graphics and layout finished, and voila!! Whew, it's been a long exhausting road, but well worth it. As you can see, we don't have many shows coming up, as we're hard at work completing the CD and working on our marketing plans for it. But, keep checking as things will come up soon. We do plan on hitting the road a little more this year, so I'll keep you posted. We're very excited and pumped this year, as there are some cool opportunities coming our way,, but,, shhhh, it's all hush hush for now. Until then, we ask for your patience and continued support. We couldn't do it without you. Many thanks! Christina |
